Investment reporting is often seen as a post-trade accountability tool to show performance of an investment portfolio. It’s often mixed with financial reporting, which is the administrative processing of the things happening in the portfolio over a specific period resulting in a balance sheet and P&L account.
Charities and foundations form a special group of entities managing assets. Not only are they managing assets for specific goals they want to support, often it is third party money which is invested and accountability has to be given in a formal matter, both the spending of proceeds and how the assets are managed.
